England Netball have worked hard over the last year to develop and produce the new England Netball Skills Awards. With pictures from Mark Pritchard and input from a range of coaches and coach educators, the new pack will be useful for all youth teams and schools in their development of players basic skills.
The tester handbook leads any coach through the basic elements that they need to know and on the inside front page is a list of the contributing staff. Jo Munnion (England Under 17 Head Coach, Mavericks Youth Head Coach and Internetball Head of Coaching) helped to edit this pack and make sure it was ready to help players improve their skills. Last year Jo went to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to present the new awards and explain to the Sports and Leisure Industries the benefit of these cards through demonstrating some of the activities with local netballers.
Skills awards are a useful way of keeping players motivated as they build up their basic skills. The Californian Prunes Pack offers a range of levels from 1 to 6 offering a variety of levels of difficulty. These work cards are also extremely inclusive as they offer suggestions to all netballers achieve according to their physical abilities. Players love collecting badges and certificates as they can track their progress. This also helps players to focus on one or two areas at a time.
What's in the pack?

Each set of cards are separated by a divider which clearly summarises the section. The cards are easy to read so that instructors can set up tasks or for older players, they could use these cards on their own.
